Talk Therapy and Counselling
There's no denying that coming to counselling can be a daunting experience. We may question if it’s the right thing for us, are we bad enough or are we too bad?? These negative and damaging thoughts can prevent us from reaching out, causing us to stay stuck in our current situations, not knowing what to do or how to move forwards.
At Forwards Therapy, I provide a safe space to explore these thoughts and concerns about counselling and if it can really help. Through this open conversation, we can discover together if I am the right fit for you. Once you have emailed your initial enquiry, I will call you at a prearranged time for a free 15 minute consultation where we have a brief chat about your needs and expectations. If it feels right for you, we can book in a session either online or face to face in one of my clinics in Poole, Dorset or Ashley Heath, Hampshire. In this first session, I will carry out an assessment so I can ensure I am the right counsellor for you and if I can meet your needs. This is important to check I am working within my capabilities and that you are receiving safe and ethical counselling which fits your requirements.
Counselling with me can be open ended which means we can explore your current situation at a pace which suits you, without have the pressure of time limited counselling. However, if you would like to work within a time frame, that’s absolutely fine and I would recommend a minimum of 6 weeks. The sessions are yours and its up to you what you bring each week and this person centred way of working ensures you are at the heart of our work together. I will support you with empathy, genuineness, warmth and compassion so that you feel safe and heard in our relationship together.
