WELCOME TO FORWARDS THERAPY
Emma Beddow – Lead Counsellor
Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and Somatic Therapist | Supporting Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Addiction & Neurodivergence
I offer a compassionate, collaborative, and flexible approach to therapy, tailoring sessions to each client’s individual needs. My practice is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, which means I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Alongside this, I can integrate Somatic Therapy if required and other therapeutic modalities, depending on what feels most supportive for you.
My work is based on the understanding that healing happens not just through talking, but also by reconnecting with the body and nervous system. If appropriate, we may explore body-based techniques to help regulate emotions, release tension, and build a deeper sense of safety.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I will work with you to help you gain insight, develop self-awareness, and find the right path forward. I may gently challenge you at times to encourage deeper reflection and growth, but always in a way that feels respectful and supportive. My goal is to help you find your own answers and empower you to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
If you have any preferences or concerns about how we work together, we can discuss and adjust the approach to ensure therapy feels helpful and comfortable for you.
Who I Help
I work with adults who are experiencing:
✔ Anxiety & Overthinking – feeling on edge, stuck in worry cycles, or overwhelmed
✔ Low Self-Esteem & Confidence – struggling with self-doubt or self-criticism
✔ Addiction & Unhealthy Coping Strategies – wanting to break free from harmful patterns
✔ Neurodivergence (Autism & ADHD) – supporting self-understanding & emotional wellbeing
✔ Relationship Challenges – difficulties with boundaries, communication, or past trauma
My Approach
As a person-centred counsellor and somatic therapist, I believe you are the expert in your own life and your body holds the key to your healing and developing a greater understanding of your experiences. My role is to support and guide you in a way that feels right for you. Our sessions will be led by what you need, whether that’s understanding your emotions, developing coping tools, or processing past experiences. If helpful, I also draw on somatic techniques, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches to support you in managing anxiety and breaking unhelpful thought patterns. Counselling is not a one size fits all method and therefore I will adapt sessions to fit you and this collaborative process means that you are at the centre of your sessions and your own wisdom and insight is not only explored but celebrated.
What to Expect
✔ A supportive and accepting space to explore your thoughts and feelings
✔ A deeper understanding of yourself and your emotions
✔ Practical strategies to manage anxiety, self-doubt, or overwhelm
✔ Empowerment to make positive changes at your own pace
